I heard this message from Chad Veach and wanted to share with everyone. Classic information and bears repeating. How do you know you have a good idea? Well, here are four phases:
- Rejection – being told no or the idea is crazy. Nobody likes rejection. This is a test. If you’re super passionate about your idea and believe in it, rejection will only fuel the fire
- Temptation – another idea, partner opportunity, distraction comes along to lure you away from your passion project
- Isolation – we need to sometimes sit and think and hold onto our idea by ourselves for a while
- Retribution – your passion project lives! It sometimes takes longer (or shorter) than we think for our idea to come to life
If you’re a sales person and you get an idea for a new way to approach a customer, prospect, segment of the business, go with it! Simply check where you are in the phases.
If you’re a leader and you get a new idea, same applies. Know where you are in the phases. Pack your patience and carry on!
P.S. DM me if you want a link to his talk, it was pretty epic.
